Language Tutor is an iPhone and iPad app for practicing Spanish, French, German, and American Sign Language (ASL) with phrasebooks, quizzes, and spoken conversation practice. Lessons and learning progress run on your device, with no account required.

The app can't hear me during speaking practice.
Make sure Language Tutor has permission to use the microphone and speech recognition: open the Settings app, scroll to Language Tutor, and enable Microphone and Speech Recognition.
Does the app need an internet connection?
Lessons, phrasebooks, quizzes, and saved progress work on your device. An internet connection may be used to show ads or to download Apple's on-device speech recognition model when a language model is not already installed.
Is my voice recorded or uploaded?
No. Audio is processed on your device and is never stored or sent anywhere. See our privacy policy.
